The Face Painters: Body Doubles exhibition about Lovers

The Face Painters: Body Doubles exhibition about Lovers

The story behind this is that I was on a bike ride in Golden Gate park, going down JFK Hwy toward Ocean Beach.  On the side of the road, on a small stretch of grass in between the curb and the sidewalk, there was this couple who were totally enmeshed in one another.  It was so public and they were so still that I figured they were probably on mushrooms or something that allowed them to lose all inhibitions with each other and with the people around them.  I mean, there were kids and dogs walking on the sidewalk right next to them.  I liked the absurdity of the image of the two of them, but I was also curious to know what they were experiencing- a universe of two.

CCA | The Artist's Studio Series: Sarah Thibault

CCA | The Artist's Studio Series: Sarah Thibault

Below is an excerpt of essay I wrote for the CCA Alumni Magazine GLANCE.  The Artist's Studio Series is a survey of studios and studio practices of alum and faculty from the CCA. I'm honored to be included with the other artists featured -  Linda Geary, Allison Smith, Zarhouie Abdalian, Bryson Gil and Zak Timan- among others. * Pictures by Andria Lo

Excerpt from the CCA Artist's Studio Series:

I have a studio in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco. It’s on the second floor of a large warehouse, along with Recchiuti chocolates and the graduate studios of the San Francisco Art Institute. Most days the hallway smells like a combination of chocolate and paint.
